Has the recession caused divorce rates in the UK to go down?

According to Ministry of Justice statistics in the last 12 months the divorce rate has slightly decreased in the UK. Statistics issued recently showed that for the first three months in 2009, the total number of divorces was 32,100, compared to 32,255 for the same period in 2007. Ok, it’s a pretty tiny percentage change but it flies in the face of the widespread belief that divorce rates are rising. With so many people losing jobs and not being able to afford the sort of lifestyle they previously enjoyed, is it the case that we are going ‘back to basics’ and investing more in our personal relationships? Maybe there is a silver lining to the recession.
